Tailoring & cover letters

Tailoring rebuilds your resume for a specific posting: it re-weights your experience, mirrors the role's language, and surfaces the most relevant work — without inventing anything. The output is a separate tailored copy; your base resume is untouched.

Ways to tailor

  • From the Jobs board — click Tailor on a saved job. Best when the posting was captured by the browser extension, since the full description is already attached.
  • From chat — paste a job description into the chat and ask. Good for quick experiments or roles you haven't saved.
  • From the extension popup — tailor against the posting you're viewing without leaving the page, with a PDF preview right in the popup.

Tailoring takes a moment — it's rewriting your resume against the posting, then rendering a PDF.

What you get

A tailored PDF linked to the job on your Jobs board, downloadable any time. Tailored jobs show a "Tailored" badge, and the board can filter by tailored / not tailored so you can see what's ready to send.

Default tailoring instructions

If you find yourself repeating the same guidance — "keep it to one page," "always emphasize leadership," "match keywords conservatively" — save it once as Default tailoring instructions on your Account page. Every tailor run applies them automatically; per-run instructions add on top.

Cover letters

Generate a cover letter from a job's card or by asking in chat with the job selected. Letters are grounded in your actual resume and the posting's content, and are linked to the job alongside the tailored resume.

Review before you send

Tailoring emphasizes and rephrases — it should never fabricate. Still, you are the last check: read the tailored resume and cover letter before they go to an employer, exactly as you would anything a human assistant drafted for you.
